One of two dragon emojis, the dragon face emoji only captures the dragon’s head and neck, and can appear vastly different depending on the emoji platform used. Some versions of the emoji – such as Apple’s iOS variant – are extremely ornate and intricate and resemble the dragons of Chinese and Japanese mythology. Others – like HTC and Mozilla – base there emoji on a more European style of mythological creature. This and the other dragon emoji are currently widely used when talking about Game of Thrones online. Otherwise, it has a number of varied associations and uses, from Chinese culture and celebrations, dinosaurs, knights and mythology.
